All together now; "Tra la la la la la la, Tra la la la la la la!" The Banana Splits was a 60's US TV series featuring four wacky characters (played by guys in big furry suits) - Fleagle (a dog), Bingo (gorilla), Drooper (lion) and Snorky (elephant).
The show comprised of skits, advice, cartoons, lots of running around and even more falling over. Genius.
The Banana Splits were also a band and the shows often featured musical interludes (in a kinda pop video fashion). This LP brings together music from an original 60's Banana Splits LP together with plus 5 tracks taken from 45's that were from the back of Kelloggs cereal boxes.
God, we loved the Banana Splits so much when we were kids (it played on UK TV in the 80's). Remember their buggies? How cool?! The music is pure 60's bubblegum pop and really showcases the 'Splits musical talents as there's a variety of styles - pop, blues and folksy psych. A fun LP with a real 60's sound. And let's not forget the Tra-La-La song that you just can't help but smile when you hear!
