Notes
Great jazz/orchestral soundtrack to the 1958 movie Bell, Book and Candle starring James Stewart, Jack Lemmon, Ernie Kovacs and Kim Novak.
The story (adapted from the stage play) tells of a modern-day witch (Novak), living in New York that cast a spell on her neighbour to make him love her.
Composer George Duning was nominated three times for the Best Score Oscar; The Jolson Story, The Eddie Duchin Story and Picnic. He also wrote the music for many Star Trek episodes.
Jazz fans will be pleased to note that the Brothers Candoli, Pete and Conte feature heavily in this soundtrack - and they also appear in the night club scene in the movie.
The title is a reference to an opening and closing ceremony when casting spells, which is performed by using a bell, a book and a candle!
