Another classic library reissue! Nice!
Thanks go out to Tim 'Love' Lee and his Tummy Touch label for reissuing one of the most sought-after KPM library records - Keith Mansfield and Alan Hawkshaw's legendary The Big Beat (1969) from the KPM 1000 Series (KPM1044).
You could safely assume that an album made up of incredible Hammond organ playing, a really fat horn section, fuzz guitar solos and drum breaks would deliver the goods but this album does so much more than that. Just one listen to tracks like 'Beat Me Till I'm Blue' or 'Señor Thump' and you'll know you are in the presence of something far greater than the sum of it's parts. And when those parts are described as "Pounding", "Thumping", "Rocking" and "Pulsating", you had better be prepared for a musical man-handling that'll have you smiling (and hopefully dancing!) well in to retirement.
Please note: some of the tracks on The Big Beat appear on some library music compilations we stock. 'Exclusive Blend', 'Beat me till I'm Blue', 'Rocky Mountain Run About' and 'Tap Footer' all appear on Exclusive Blend Vol 1, 'Studio 69' appears on KPM Soundclash, 'Beat Me 'Til I'm Blue', 'Rocky Mountain Run About' and 'Señor Thump' appears on Mo'Hawk and The Champ.
