Notes
Oh yes. This is total class. 34 90-second tracks of 'spoken jazz'. It's spoken word with an eclectic mixture of musical arrangements with each track evoking a colors' essence by clever use of rhythm, rhyme and vocals tones. It's absolutely mesmerising (well, it was for us) and just makes you smile with every word. Each color is given character personalities and are woven into a freeform narrative with each track having its own musical background accompaniment. Highly recommended.
Ken Nordine has been a familiar voice for radio broadcasts and commercials in the USA. In the early 60's he recorded a series of 10 radio ads for The Fuller Paint Company. They were so popular that people would call the radio station and ask for the ad to be replayed - wich it couldn't 'cos it was an ad. This spurned Nordine to record a total of 44 of these tracks which were released on LP by Phillips in 1966.
