Notes
A totally weird and intriguing CD containing recordings of legendary evangelist A. A. Allen talking to and trying to exorcise 'demonically possessed' people. These recordings come from his ultra rare LP that was released in the early 60's. Almost all copies of the LP were destroyed in a mysterious warehouse fire at his Miracle Valley, Arizona. It also contains other Revival Ministries recordings and audio from A. A. Allen's TV show.
It's a pretty riveting, disturbing and slightly comical listen that still has the power to send shivers up the spine. Think of the various scenes in The Exorcist when Father Damien Karras speaks to the demonically possessed Reagan - that's the kind of stuff that's here. Some of the 'Demons' are stubborn whilst others are just plain childish in their utterances.
A. A. Allen was a charismatic and larger than life figure who seemed to thrive on controversy and was severely criticized for his ministry dramatics and sensationalism. At the height of his popularity he had over 340,000 subscribers to his Miracle Magazine, was preaching in all the major cities and auditoriums across the US, was heard on radio and had written many books. In 1967, Allen was sued for $300,000 in back taxes and separated from his wife Lexie. In poor health, Allen checked into a motel room outside of San Francisco in readiness for a doctor's appointment the next day. At 9.15pm the same evening, he was found dead in a chair in front of his television.
