Notes
Top marks to All Score Media for releasing Franco De Gemini: The Man with the Harmonica - the first ever CD compilation to pay tribute to the unique harmonica soloist and composer Franco De Gemini.
Franco De Gemini: The Man with the Harmonica is a mix of soundtrack music, rare library tracks and pop instrumentals. Sometimes dramatic, sometimes groovy.
Starting with his classic hit "The Man With The Harmonica" (the main theme of Morricone's score for "Once Upon A Time In The West") this great CD contains 15 tracks De Gemini recorded between 1967 and 1978, ranging from Italo-Western songs to easy listening to disco to jazz, with about half of the titles appearing on CD for the first time ever.
Several titles were composed by Maestro De Gemini himself and the CD also features one title without the use of the Harmonica: "Cheops and Nefertiti" shows the talents of De Gemini as a composer (featured here in an extra-long version which has been dug out of the Beat Records archives in Rome in 2005).
This fab CD closes with a rare 1978 disco mix of "The Man With The Harmonica".
