The Images soundtrack is Williams' avant-garde masterpiece - written for the most part for strings, piano and percussion - with keyboards played by the composer himself and the percussion entirely the work of Japanese artist Stomu Yamash'ta. Yamash'ta, then just 24, had already gained a reputation as one of the world's most talented young percussionists.

The Images soundtrack has never been commercially available, so this LP replicates the content found on the promotional LP that Williams assembled for the Academy members 'for their consideration'.
