Lucifer Rising is the short film from experimental filmmaker and confessed Satanist Kenneth Anger who had already made a few shorts before his first attempt at making Lucifer Rising in the late 60s.

For the leading role of Lucifer, he had already found an actor, but after attending a "happening" in San Francisco (where he was currently living) he saw a rapturous performance by the 19 year old Bobby BeauSoleil's "Psychedelic chamber music group", The Orkustra. After the show, he approached BeauSoleil to take the lead role in Rising, who agreed on one condition - that he write and have The Orkustra perform the soundtrack.

After The Orkustra broke up, and after the first (and last) performance of BeauSoleil's next band, The Magick Powerhouse of Oz, he split San Fran and ended up in California. Here he crossed-paths with Charles Manson, the two of them both sharing a predeliction for both music and attractive young girls. Whilst hanging out with Manson and his 'Family' at Spahn Ranch, BeauSoleil killed a drug dealer (Gary Hinman) he'd believed to have sold him duff mesacaline...

Along with the trippy Lucifer Rising soundtrack on disc one, we also get the once-lost early demos and jams that formed the basis for the soundtrack proper.
