Notes
The superb soundtrack to John Schlesinger's classic Oscar winning movie from 1969 starring Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight, Midnight Cowboy.
Containing a mix of John Barry's five atmospheric compositions (including the sublime Midnight Cowboy theme and 'Florida Fantasy' which was used as the theme to the BBC's 'Wildtrack' TV show) and some great late-60s rock, the Midnight Cowboy soundtrack is truly one of the best.
Nilsson's recording of "Everybody's Talkin'" became a hit - reaching number 6 on Billboard's Hot 100 and earning Nilsson a Grammy Award.
Harry Nilsson wrote the song, "I Guess the Lord Must Be In New York City" specifically for Midnight Cowboy, but director John Schlesinger preferred the Fred Neil song, "Everybody's Talkin' at Me", which he had Nilsson sing for the soundtrack.
"Lay Lady Lay" was written by Bob Dylan's for use in the movie but missed the deadline. The band 'Elephant's Memory' is mostly known for briefly serving as John Lennon's backup band in the early 1970s
