On Rediscovering Lost Scores: Volume 1 we find an eclectic mix of styles and musical media; there are traditional orchestral and chamber music ensembles, vocal solos and choruses, Moog synthesizers, novel one-of-a-kind devices (like the Circon). The majority of tracks are hybrids - blends of live with electro-acoustic media.

Rediscovering Lost Scores: Volume 1 includes the earlier studio tracks created for "The Shining" soundtrack from 1978 (including the "bloody elevators" trailer soundtrack) through to late 1979.

Whilst searching for lost music for inclusion on these Rediscovering Lost Scores CDs (also see Volume 2), several older tapes were found to contain Clockwork Orange tracks which had been mislabeled, and were overlooked when the definitive soundtrack album was compiled. This CD contains three previously unreleased, unused Clockwork Orange tracks that have not been heard since 1971 which unintentionally became "lost scores" as that project reached its hectic conclusion.

The remainder of selections on this album are tracks composed in the 70s for several of Dick Young's memorable documentary films for UNICEF. Most of these UNICEF tracks have a world music flavor, befitting the places visited in the documentaries.
