Notes
No - it's not the soundtrack to that little-known indie flick about Android Scotsmen - it's the soundtrack to the fun sci-fi movie from 1990, Robot Jox.
As is to be expected, the Robot Jox soundtrack is, like the movie's subject matter, a larger than life affair with bold brass and gladiatorial-style motifs and melodies. But not only do we get the fantastic orchestral music, there's also a classic bit of 80s cheese on track 7 that was used as background music for a bar scene (that takes place at The Jock Strap Bar, no less!). It's bloody great!
Robot Jox, from prolific genre director Stuart Gordon (who also directed the classic horror, Re-Animator), tells the story of a post apocalyptic Earth, where war between countries is fought out not by troops and artillery, but by guys controlling massive robots (that look like Transformers) from inside them and kind of fighting each other in the only way that huge man-operated fighting robots can. Well, you can't really go wrong with a plot that involves huge fighting robots. Great score, great movie.
