Notes
The funk/soul soundtrack to the 1972 movie Short Eyes directed by Robert M. Young. Short Eyes was based on the award winning play by Miguel Pinero. It tells the often brutal tale of life amongst the inmates of the Tombs Detention centre in New York.
From the liner notes - "The music of Curtis Mayfield captures the human side of doing time and gives it depth and substance. Simple percussion and soft, lamenting lyrics reaffirm the rhythm of life that runs through these men. It is Mayfield's gift that he can bring sensitivity and style to such a violent domain.
