Notes
Ho, ho - this is another goodie! Soundsational: Rediffusion Rereleased brings together a great selection of groovy and easy tracks recorded in the 70s' and taken from the Rediffusion sound library (known as International Library Services) and the Rediffusion International Music LPs.
Rediffusion first became known in the 1950's when Associated Rediffusion held the commercial television franchise in the London area from the inception of independent television. By the 60s it was initiating popular programming including successful game shows, groundbreaking pre-Python comedy and the greatest pop TV show ever, Ready Steady Go.
This wasn't Rediffusion's first link with music; it had been providing popular background music via International Library Services since 1954. This led to the formation of a budget record label, Rediffusion International Music in 1968. It was in the 70s, however, that the label came into its own issuing a prolific number of LPs (Birds 'N' Brass, Birds 'N' Brass Are Back, Exciting Sounds Of Tomorrow and more) alongside its background music service.
Buy this CD and save yourself the bother of trawling through the dusty LP bin of your local charity shop!
The excellent Sort Of Soul was recently used in the Johnny Depp movie Blow.
