Notes
Grab your board, your wax and your favourite gal (or guy) and hit the beach! It's Summer Beach Party, a fab collection of original music from those crazy 'Beach Party' movies of the 1960s!
Between 1963 and 1967 over two-dozen 'Beach Party' movies were made - with the majority of them being produced by Roger Corman's American Internation Pictures (AIP).
Along with the suntanned beach bunnies and the bronzed surfer boys, the other element of the 'Beach Party' movies was the music, a mixture of teen pop songs and bona fide surf music, a musical form that had taken root on the coast of California during the summer of 1961. By the time AIP's Beach Party hit the big screen in August 1963, surf music was a commercial force, not only in California, but national and worldwide.
The core 'Beach Party' films featured Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello singing and acting, along with some of the biggest recording artists of the day (The Beach Boys, Dick Dale, The Kingsmen, Jan & Dean, Nancy Sinatra, Donna Loren), yet strangely there never were any official soundtrack albums issued for these films.
Summer Beach Party brings together these great Beach Party tunes and includes six songs that appear for the first time anywhere.
