Notes
The Blaxploitation soundtrack from the quintessential Blaxploitation flick. Curtis Mayfield's funky and soulful tracks accompany the on-screen action and plot by adding a contrasting and moral message - albeit delivered musically - to the movie. The track "Freddie's Dead" (released 6 weeks before the movie - a unique promotional tool at the time) hit the US top ten and the LP went to No.1 and remained in the US charts for most of the year. An absolute classic and what some critics have called "the black Sgt. Pepper". Essential.
