Notes
We love Stelvio Cipriani's work, but there's just not that much been released. However - this is his soundtrack to the 1977 Italian horror/thriller/bigmonsterinthesea movie, Tenacoli (Tentacles). Directed by Ovidio G. Assonitis and starring John Huston, Shelley Winters and Henry Fonda, Tentacoli tells the tale of how a huge, angry octopus besieges an ocean harbor town after a greedy construction owner makes a tunnel in the ocean and disturbs its home. Despite the movie sounding like a third-rate jaws rip-off, this is actually a nice little score from Cipriani - the main theme uses some kind of effect to make it sound like it was recorded underwater(!) and track 7 (Too Risky a Day for a Regatta) was first used in a Poliziotteschi called "La Polizia Sta A Guardare" (1973), of which variations on the theme can be found on the Cinevox CD Roma Violenta.
