Notes
A selection of the fantastic songs from the 1956 film adaptation of Rodgers & Hammerstein's hit musical, The King and I, starring Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr. Prolific dubbing singer Marni Nixon ("The Voice of Hollywood") actually sang Deborah Kerr's part in the movie and soundtrack.
The film was nominated for 4 Golden Globes, winning 2 (Best Motion Picture and Best Actress) and 9 Academy Awards, where it won 5 including Best Actor and Best Music.
The original soundtrack, which forms the basis of this CD, remained on the US charts for 277 weeks, reaching No.1 and eventually selling more than a million copies!
