Notes
The beautiful and haunting music from the multi-award winning documentary from Errol Morris, The Thin Blue Line.
The Thin Blue Line was remarkable in that it is credited with overturning the conviction of a man who was wrongly given the death penalty for murder by a corrupt justice system in Texas, USA.
The director (also a trained musician) would often take the sheet music home to study and play on the piano. Says Glass "Errol could make musical comments because of his training and he had a very specific music in kind that he wanted for each character, though he couldn't hum it to me. He has a very accurate idea of music and can talk about music but his way of working is very subjective. The way music matches to the image is totally intuitive and there is no way to describe that... so he will wait you out until he gets what he wants."
The Thin Blue Line soundtrack was first released on LP in 1989 in a version tnat included some dialogue from the movie mixed into the music. This release has no dialogue - just the original music from the soundtrack along with unused music that didn't make it into the final cut of the movie.
